Current mood: depressed

I hate the thought that a close friend is going through a very bad time and there isn't anything I can do to help. I keep thinking that if only I had learned to drive, there would be something I could do now, and I wouldn't feel so helpless and have to watch someone I care about have their life spin out of control and possibly end up homeless and losing all of their worldly possessions.

I don't know what to do. I want to help, and I can't. And sitting here in the office struggling not to cry about it isn't making matters any easier.

That's awful. Helplessness is one of the worst feelings I can think of. :( *hugs*
Are there any relatives or friends living in her area who could possibly do something? (I don't really have the right to ask, I guess, so feel free to ignore me if I'm just making matters worse.)

No, there aren't, unfortunately. Her family has more or less abandoned her, refusing to help, and she doesn't have a car. All she needs is someone to help her pack and drive her to where she needs to get, and no one will take the time to help her. She lives about an hour away from me, and as I don't drive, my capability of helping is limited. She's running out of time, and could very well end up out on the street, losing everything she owns. Her family is apparently willing to pay people to help pack/drive her, but they are completely refusing to put in the manual labour themselves to help. That's what makes me so angry and upset and frustrated about all this. They have the capability to help her, they're just too damned lazy to to do. As are her so-called "friends" in the place that she's trying to get to.
