I'm .... just a little freaked out that a very odd man on the bus was sitting right across the aisle staring at me and singing Chuck Berry's "My Ding-A-Ling" during most of the ride home. It was a bit disconcerting, to say the least. Oh well, at least he didn't make any rude gestures.

Half-days at work are good days. Especially as the sun is out, it's in the 30s in lovely Chicago, and the thin coating of snow we had last night/this morning is already starting to be swept away. I think I may even venture back out this afternoon to spend a while at Starbucks. I've been craving a chai latté all day, and I should get one while I have the free time.

Finally finished reading D.H. Lawrence's The Rainbow just a few minutes ago. It was so annoying to have to get off the bus and walk the six blocks home from my stop when I was down to the last six pages! That usually happens to me. I always get to a part of whatever I'm reading that I really want to finish when I have to close the book for a while.

Hmmm, now the question is: What to read next? I'm waffling between Mary Stewart's The Gabriel Hounds and Jean Plaidy's The Murder in the Tower. It will probably be the latter, as I've always had a fascination for the murdered princes in the tower. And I do think that the most probable candidate as to who killed them was Richard III.

And I have to decide which pictures I want to post in [info]daily_male tonight. Only a day in that community, and I already adore it. Who wouldn't like a place where they get to see pictures of strikingly handsome men on a daily basis? I only hope that no-one gets tired of seeing all the musicians I post there. The only thing that's rather annoying me is that my tags don't show up! I wish I knew how to make them visible.

Haha. That is a bit ... weird, but kind of amusing (to the Chuck Berry man).

He was .... not attractive, either. He didn't fit the classic picture of "derelict with bottle in brown paper bag," but he smelled bad and he was wearing filthy dirty clothes, and looked as though he hadn't shaved in days. I was so relieved when he got off the bus a few blocks before I did!

I just did a mod help/faq post on that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Thank you! It took me a while to realise that I can't see my tags when I'm looking at my friends page because I have an S1 style. This is what I get for not reading the site FAQ when something like that happens!

I have another tagging question for you: If I post pictures of someone who has never been posted before, will I be able to tag and have it show up in the comm, or does the mod have to add them to the list? I'm a bit confused about that.

You should be able to create new tags, yes.

Thank you! The whole tagging thing is very new to me, and I keep forgetting to add them. But I'll soon get the hang of it and remember them when I post.

I hadn't actually heard that particular song until I went looking around for it so I could get an idea of what you were talking about. I should have known by the title, but no..... Now I can't decide whether to feel bad for you or to giggle at the absurdity of that man's song choice.

And I know far too well what it's like to be RIGHT THERE with a book and yet, unable to finish it for some reason. Of course, my route to get home from the bus is one long road so I can usually get away with reading as I walk. Not always the safest thing to do, but I can't always help it.

NO ONE should want to hear that song. It's .... to put it nicely, NOT one of Mr. Berry's finest hours.

I usually do that in the summertime! We have lovely wide sidewalks here, so it's not a problem to read as I walk along from the bus stop to home. But with the slushy snow still on the sidewalk, I was trying to pay attention to where I was walking. I've taken a fall before due to not paying attention, and I don't want it to happen again.

What to read after finishing D.H. Lawrence? Evelyn Waugh. Seriously underrated early-20th-century British author who was just SCREAMINGLY funny in his early novels (I recommend Vile Bodies as a jumping-off point- or the excellent Stephen-Fry-directed film of said novel, 'Bright Young Things').

UNRELATEDLY, I chose to go poking around at who, on [info]aristoboule's journal, used Patrick Wolf as an icon. Nobody I know even has heard of him.

Do you find parallels (to voice a question that your interests brought to mind) between the work of Mr. Sylvian and Mr. Wolf?
